A mother from Port Lincoln is speaking out about the challenges her family faced after her daughter was raped, highlighting the need for better access to forensic testing services in regional areas.
The mother, who has chosen not to be named, said her daughter was sexually assaulted earlier this year and arrived home around 1:30 pm. After police statements and a hospital consultation, they were directed to a qualified nurse in Whyalla, about 270 kilometers away, for vital forensic testing.
