Teenager killed in Elizabeth Vale crash, learner driver charged

A learner driver has been charged over the death of a teenager in a car crash in Adelaide's northern suburbs. The 17-year-old male passenger died at the scene after the station wagon struck a Stobie pole.

A tragic car crash in Adelaide's northern suburbs has claimed the life of a 17-year-old male from Direk. The incident occurred overnight at the intersection of John Rice Avenue and Marleycombe Road in Elizabeth Vale.

According to police, a station wagon struck a Stobie pole at approximately 3:15am. The teenage passenger died at the scene, while three other passengers escaped uninjured.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Parafield Gardens with a learner's permit, was arrested and taken to hospital for testing. Police have charged him with several offences, including:

  • aggravated cause death by dangerous driving
  • refuse breath analysis
  • three counts of breaching learner's permit conditions
  • driving without a qualified supervising driver
