Logano Dominates North Wilkesboro, Claims Historic Victory

Joey Logano delivered a performance for the ages at North Wilkesboro, dominating the Cup Series race to become the first driver in three decades to win a points-paying event at the revitalized historic track. Logano, behind the wheel of his Team Penske Ford, led an astonishing 323 of 450 laps, setting a new personal record for laps led in a single race.

The triumph marks a significant moment, rekindling memories of Jeff Gordon’s last victory at the storied short track. Logano crossed the finish line a commanding 0.859 seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin, who led a formidable trio of Joe Gibbs Racing machines. Chase Briscoe secured third place, with Ty Gibbs just behind in fourth, showcasing the strength of the Toyota contingent.

Adding an intriguing subplot to the race, Shane van Gisbergen matched his career-best oval finish by taking fifth position. The Australian road-course ace demonstrated remarkable adaptability, leading more laps (49) than he ever has before on an oval circuit. Allmendinger were the only three drivers recorded as DNFs.
