In a major blow to organized crime in Adelaide’s north, the South Australian government has officially declared a Pooraka warehouse a "prescribed place," effectively banning outlaw motorcycle gang members from using it as a clubhouse.

The targeted property, located on Research Road in Pooraka, is identified by authorities as the headquarters for the Descendants outlaw motorcycle gang. Under the strict declaration, any member of an outlawed motorcycle club who enters or attempts to access the site faces up to three years behind bars.

Disrupting Organized Crime Networks

This move marks the fourth location in South Australia to be designated a prescribed place, joining existing restricted properties in Mount Gambier and Ponde. State Premier Peter Malinauskas emphasized that the declaration is a critical tool in dismantling the infrastructure of illicit organizations.

"We definitively know that outlawed motorcycle gangs are responsible for much of the organised crime that occurs in the state of South Australia," Premier Malinauskas said. He highlighted the link between these groups and the distribution of devastating illicit substances, including methamphetamine.

"By disrupting their activity, we make it harder for organised crime to get together, plan, operate, and contemplate their next criminal act," the Premier added.

Government Signals Zero Tolerance

South Australian Attorney General Kyam Maher reinforced the government’s hardline stance, stating there would be no apologies for the aggressive legal measures being deployed against these syndicates.

"The misery that these thugs and criminals peddle on families and communities in South Australia will not be tolerated," Mr. Maher said. "The drugs that they sell into South Australia, the crimes that they plan, and the intimidation that goes along with it have no place here."

A Win for Local Community Safety

The Descendants, believed to have originated in South Australia, are regarded by law enforcement as a highly organized and active criminal network. SA Police Assistant Commissioner Linda Williams welcomed the declaration, calling it a significant victory for community safety.

"They are a very active participant in organised crime, particularly violent crime and the distribution of drugs in this state," Assistant Commissioner Williams said, adding that officers would be actively serving notifications to gang members regarding the new restrictions.

The latest crackdown follows similar legislative actions taken last year, which successfully blocked members of the Hells Angels from accessing a prominent meeting location in Ponde, near Cowirra.
