BOM Upgrades Rain Radar on Website Following Community Feedback
The Bureau of Meteorology has made major updates to the rain radar on its website, addressing community feedback and improving the user experience. The updates include new features such as locations, range rings, and quick links, and aim to make it easier for users to access and understand rainfall information.
The Bureau of Meteorology has made significant upgrades to the rain radar feature on its website, just shy of a year since the launch of the new platform.
The $96.5 million revamp of the website was met with widespread criticism, particularly over the usability and design of the rain radar tool. In response to community feedback, the bureau has implemented several updates to improve the functionality and user experience of the rain radar.
Improved Rain Radar Features
The updated rain radar now includes features such as locations, range rings, quick links, and improvements to how rain is displayed. The changes aim to make it easier for users to access and understand rainfall information.
"We know how much value the community places on their local rain radar," said Chief Executive Stuart Minchin. "We've listened to feedback and made these updates to help you get to your local radar faster and estimate how far away rain is,"
The bureau has also added radar locations, radar quick links, and clickable radar icons to enhance the user experience. The updates also include improvements to the detection and display of rainfall on the weather map, with higher definition and detail for light to moderate rainfall.
Ongoing Updates and Feedback
Dr. Minchin said that the bureau encourages the community to continue providing feedback on the website, and that further updates are planned for later this year. "We encourage the community to continue to share their website feedback, and we will respond with enhancements and adjustments," he said.
The updates are part of an ongoing effort to improve the website and provide better services to the community. The bureau is committed to listening to feedback and making changes to meet the needs of its users.
