A Dubai-bound flight was forced to make an unexpected return to Adelaide Airport in the early hours of Tuesday morning due to a mechanical issue.
Flight EK441 took off from Adelaide Airport at 10:35pm on Monday but pilots were forced to turn around before reaching the West Australian border.
Safe Landing and Precautions
An Adelaide Airport spokesperson confirmed that the Airbus A350-900 landed shortly after 2am on Tuesday, with fire trucks in attendance "as a precaution" on the flight's arrival.
"Passengers have either returned home or have been accommodated in hotels," they said.
"We understand passengers have been rebooked on tonight's Emirates flight."
Emirates' Response
An Emirates spokesperson said the flight landed due to a "technical fault".
They said everyone on board "safely disembarked" and Emirates would accommodate passengers with onwards connections.
"Emirates apologises for any inconvenience caused, but the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised," they said.
