A young motorist is recovering in hospital after a spectacular single-vehicle crash in Adelaide's south this morning, with emergency services describing him as "incredibly fortunate" to be alive. The collision occurred around 7:00 AM in the suburb of Chandlers Hill, leaving the driver's sedan in ruins.

First responders, including local police, fire crews, and SA Ambulance officers, rushed to the scene following reports that a car had veered off the road and slammed into a tree. The impact was severe enough to uproot the tree, which fell across the road alongside the wrecked vehicle.

Rescue crews worked urgently to extricate the sole occupant—a 21-year-old man from Seaford Heights—from the mangled wreckage. Despite the confronting scene, paramedics confirmed the driver sustained only minor injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and observation.

Commuter Delays and Road Reopening

The incident caused significant delays for morning commuters, as authorities were forced to close the road in both directions. Specialist crews worked quickly to clear the fallen tree and remove the destroyed sedan. The road has since been fully reopened to traffic.
