Police investigate unexplained infant death at Tollgate Motel

A large police presence was seen at the Tollgate Motel in Glen Osmond on Saturday morning, as officers investigated a reported infant death.

Multiple police vehicles attended the scene, adjacent to the South Eastern Freeway, five kilometres south-east of the Adelaide CBD, from 9am. Witnesses estimated around 20 officers were present, with police vehicles attending the scene throughout the morning.

"There were at least four or five police cars here," a nearby resident said. "It's a bit concerning that we've got police cars down the end of our quiet cul-de-sac."

Police left the scene by mid-afternoon, after establishing a cordon and isolating a room at the motel.

The cause of the child's death is currently undetermined. Police confirmed that an investigation is ongoing with the assistance of crime scene investigators and Eastern District Detectives, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
